Imagined Manchester: what our city could have been?
£15
This is a tie-in with Manchester Literary & Philosophical Society
There are four cities within each city. There is the city that was, the city that is, the city that will be and the city that might have been.
This talk delivers narrative punch with extraordinary images to reveal the 'what-if' city. Under discussion will be ten superb or significant schemes or buildings and even so wacky and wonderful ones that were proposed but never completed.
All of these ideas have fascinating back stories including those for a semi-Eiffel Tower in Piccadilly Gardens, a vast Cathedral and a heliport on Victoria Station.
The illustrations are lavish and wonderful.
The talk is in association with the Manchester Literary & Philosophical Society.
Meet: The Friends Meeting House, Mount Street
