On tour we visit locations in central Manchester where great speeches were delivered.
We surround ourselves with magnificent words from internationally significant figures all of whom made important speeches in the city – eloquent words that caused ripples around the nation and the world.
The background to the speeches will be revealed, the personalities who delivered them discussed and some of the content delivered in a suitably grand manner. The tour will visit some of the interiors where the words were originally spoken to add power and context to the ideas expressed.
Between the locations the written words of well-known Manchester residents and guests will be included to add extra spice.
Amongst the orators and personalities you’ll find Charles Dickens, Benjamin Disreali, President Woodrow Wilson, Winston Churchill, Pankhurst family members, John Ruskin, John Bright, Thomas Clarkson, Friedrich Engels, Morrissey, Howard Jacobson, Elizabeth Gaskell, Lydia Becker, Maxine Peake, Les Dawson, Anthony Burgess, and Sir Robert Peel.
This is an eye-opening tour with plenty of surprises.
The tour takes place at 3pm and meets at Manchester Cathedral - main entrance, south porch.
